
Day School—Daily Play and Learn
This is not your average doggy daycare! This daily program allows your dog to spend the day at Greymont with our trained faculty, and is designed to teach dogs how to communicate with other dogs and people in a fun and engaging environment. The program will also focus on developing:
Dog and human socialization
Problem solving skills
Confidence
Dog language skills
In order to be considered for enrollment in Day School, you must set up an initial interview with our trainer. Day School is offered Monday-Friday only. Download a behavior form for the interview here, or fill one out during the interview.
Puppy Kindergarten (Group Class)
This course is designed for puppies under six months of age. The focus of this course is on puppy development and laying a foundation for puppy obedience. These one-hour group classes are held one day each week for six consecutive weeks (this includes participation in the AKC Puppy STAR program).
Topics include:
Early Puppyhood Development
- Crate training
- Trouble shooting when your puppy experiences teething (chewing)
- Proper exposure and socialization
Creating Desire to Work for the Handler
- Developing food, toy, and handler interest through engaging interaction
Refining Handling Skills
- Developing food, toy, and handler interest through engaging interaction
- Clicker vs. verbal markers (pros and cons of each)
- Importance of voice inflection
- When to overlay a verbal cue, fading a lure, capturing behaviors
Laying the Foundation
- Name game (name association)
- Eye contact, sit, down, stand for exam
- Leash guidance
- Leave it
- Backing away to create space (doorways, etc.)
- Place exercise (go to bed)
- Short duration stay
- Recall exercise
- Finish exercise (coming to heel position)
- Learning the concept of back chaining
- Nature walks
Basic Obedience (Group Class)
It’s never too late to start! This basic class covers the same exercises as our Puppy Kindergarten course, but is designed for dogs over six months of age with more emphasis on manners. One-hour classes are scheduled weekly for four weeks.
Private Instruction Coaching
One-on-one private lessons scheduled with a Greymont trainer. Great for those with busy work schedules, or for dogs that do not fit into the group class environment or boarding school program.
Single Private Lessons
Private Lesson Package (four one-hour private lessons)
Behavioral Consultation
Consultation appointment with one of our behavioral specialists targeting specific behavioral issues and developing workable solutions to everyday problems. These may include anxiety, aggression, fear, noise sensitivity, environmental issues, excessive barking, etc.
Basic Obedience 101 – Lodge and Learn
A two-week board and train program
Topics include:
Manners
- Off (no jumping)
- Pulling on leash
- Waiting at door ways
- Not jumping on counters
- Going into a crate
- Leave it
- Settling/calming exercises
Obedience Behaviors
- Name game (name association)
- Eye contact
- Walk on lead (yield to leash guidance)
- Sit
- Down
- Introduction to stay
- Coming when called (introduction on lead)
- Place (taken on lead)
- Targeting (directed to touch a specified object with nose)
Advanced Obedience 102 – Lodge and Learn
A four-week board and train program
Advanced Obedience 102 is an extension of the two-week program to include the following behaviors including off leash work:
Manners
- All manners as listed under Adv. Obedience 101, but with a greater degree of difficulty as would be seen in real life situations
Obedience Behaviors
- Eye contact with distractions
- Sit
- Down
- Stand
- Heel
- Backing up
- Coming when called (off lead)
- Proofing the stay (extended with distractions)
- Place (going to a directed place)
- Touch
